'A lovely balance of sound - a slick performance and punchy with finesse.'
The Brigg Singers were formed in September 1993 as a result of an Adult Education ‘Singing for Pleasure’ group ceasing.
The first meeting was held at Brigg Resource Centre and attracted over 100 people interested in joining, which after a short time settled down to a four part choir comprising approximately 35 members.
Soon after forming, Brigg Singers moved from Brigg Resource Centre to Brigg Methodist Church where rehearsals have been held ever since.
In the 27 years that the choir has been in existence, it has only had 2 Musical Directors – the first being one of the founder members – Andrew Garbutt who remained until 2007 when Louise Dean took over. Several founder members including Carol Bulleyment; Margaret Carrington; Jenny Dowson and June and Charles Knaggs still play a very active part.
Brigg Singers have competed in a number of Music Festivals in the area over the years collecting a number of awards along the way.
